We are delighted to have scooped yet another accolade at the “2009 People in Print Smart Business Awards.”

Already the proud recipient of 14 national industry nominations and awards, George Briddon, Executive Director  of Buxton, accepted the elegant trophy for “Best Large Print Company – 2009” at a champagne reception held onboard a private luxury cruiser on the River Thames.

“The people that work at Buxton are the backbone of the company and this is a fantastic and fitting testament to all their hard work and commitment. It is especially gratifying that Buxton has again been recognised for its efforts to the UK printing industry particularly during these challenging economic times”.

Major boost for Buxton as client levels soar

Buxton has made an impressive start to 2009 with a significant influx of new customers placing their business with the Derbyshire based printer. The new titles, many of which will be printed on a monthly basis, include the entire portfolio of a leading Yorkshire newspaper group.

Buxton has a well earned reputation for reliability and skill and we pride ourselves on our customer service and no frills pricing policy. By using highly efficient in-line paper saving reel sheeters to reduce paper costs, we are able to pass on these savings to our expanding customer base.

Director, Kirk Galloway, explains, “Although the current economic climate is very tough, we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming new clients to Buxton. The new work will provide a major boost for the company and as one of the largest employers in the area, the good news will help to secure existing jobs and create a number of additional vacancies.”

Double eco-success at Green Business Awards

Buxton Press are absolutely delighted to have been nominated in two categories at the Green Business Awards:

Highly commended – Best Industrial or Manufacturing Company

Shortlisted – Best SME

Environmental responsibility forms an intrinsic part of our business and we are delighted that our efforts have been recognised nationally.

The judges were excited by the broad scope of our green initiatives. Having recently completed a radical £12m, five-year regeneration programme  we have created an 80,000 sq ft eco-friendly manufacturing facility with new printing procedures incorporating the latest in green technologies to minimise waste, maximise recycling and  reduce our overall energy consumption.

Having achieved FSC and PEFC chain-of-custody certification, we  are currently working towards attaining ISO 14001.

B2 or not B2: Buxton proposes new press for 2009

Buxton is planning to install a 5 colour B2 double coating press, swelling the already impressive firepower of the plant and further equipping us to provide an ever more efficient service to our growing customer base.

In addition to having the largest installation of KBA perfecting presses of any sheet-fed magazine printer in the U.K., we use highly efficient in-line paper saving reel sheeters to minimise paper wastage and reduce paper costs, realising several years ago the importance of providing a cost conscious print option but not at the expense of quality.

High Peak Mayor celebrates Buxton Press FSC and PEFC achievement

Buxton Press was greatly honoured on Friday, 26 September 2008 by a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of the High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry and his wife: a double celebration to mark the company’s recent achievement of FSC and PEFC accreditation and the significant contribution that the business continues to make to the local community.

The specialist magazine printer has consistently been in the forefront of campaigns to improve and maintain the eco-friendly credentials of the UK printing industry but is equally aware and proud of its role as one of the larger employers in north Derbyshire, a point that the Mayor was quick to make. “To create a nationally known centre of printing excellence in the heart of Derbyshire is a huge achievement but, in these uncertain times, to be looking to continue to provide a stable framework for employment is even better: the company deserves to grow and succeed with such a positive attitude.”

Mr Bernard Galloway, Chairman and CEO thanked the Mayor for his kind and generous endorsements of Buxton and added, “Strong inter-personal relationships form the very backbone of our business and are vital to its success. We take our responsibility as an employer very seriously and the nurturing of local talent makes complete sense.”

The mayoral visit coincided with FSC Friday, the nationwide initiative to raise awareness of the work of FSC-UK and comprised an extensive tour of the factory followed by a buffet lunch.
