Buxton signs for Europe’s largest Fujifilm XMF installation

Chris Broadhurst, National Sales Manager, Fujifilm and Kirk Galloway, Director and General Manager seal the deal

Buxton, winner of PrintWeek’s prestigious Printing Company of the Year award, has signed for what will be Europe’s largest installation of Fujifilm’s XMF cross-media workflow solutions, the very latest in print management and optimisation systems.

Confirmed on the Fujifilm stand at IPEX, the global trade exhibition for print, publishing and media held at Birmingham NEC, Buxton will install the XMF suite to handle the company’s entire requirements for all its PDF magazine pages.

Kirk Galloway, Director and General Manager at Buxton, comments: “We pride ourselves on investing in the right technology at the right time and this is exactly the case with XMF.  We print 55 million magazines each year and we’ve learned that the combination of cutting-edge technology along with our first-class printing expertise not only ensures that we stay at the top of our sector but, more importantly, are able to meet and, indeed, exceed our clients’ ongoing high expectations.

The necessity to examine workflow options had become paramount in our bid to keep pace with our ever-increasing workload. Having extensively trialled the new Fuji system, we are convinced that it will speed up our pre-press processes considerably, strengthening quality assurance procedures and, most importantly, adding to our customers overall peace of mind.”

High Peak Mayor celebrates Buxton Press FSC and PEFC achievement

Buxton Press was greatly honoured on Friday, 26 September 2008 by a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of the High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry and his wife: a double celebration to mark the company’s recent achievement of FSC and PEFC accreditation and the significant contribution that the business continues to make to the local community.

The specialist magazine printer has consistently been in the forefront of campaigns to improve and maintain the eco-friendly credentials of the UK printing industry but is equally aware and proud of its role as one of the larger employers in north Derbyshire, a point that the Mayor was quick to make. “To create a nationally known centre of printing excellence in the heart of Derbyshire is a huge achievement but, in these uncertain times, to be looking to continue to provide a stable framework for employment is even better: the company deserves to grow and succeed with such a positive attitude.”

Mr Bernard Galloway, Chairman and CEO thanked the Mayor for his kind and generous endorsements of Buxton and added, “Strong inter-personal relationships form the very backbone of our business and are vital to its success. We take our responsibility as an employer very seriously and the nurturing of local talent makes complete sense.”

The mayoral visit coincided with FSC Friday, the nationwide initiative to raise awareness of the work of FSC-UK and comprised an extensive tour of the factory followed by a buffet lunch.
