High Peak Mayor celebrates Buxton Press FSC and PEFC achievement

Buxton Press was greatly honoured on Friday, 26 September 2008 by a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of the High Peak, Councillor Robin Baldry and his wife: a double celebration to mark the company’s recent achievement of FSC and PEFC accreditation and the significant contribution that the business continues to make to the local community.

The specialist magazine printer has consistently been in the forefront of campaigns to improve and maintain the eco-friendly credentials of the UK printing industry but is equally aware and proud of its role as one of the larger employers in north Derbyshire, a point that the Mayor was quick to make. “To create a nationally known centre of printing excellence in the heart of Derbyshire is a huge achievement but, in these uncertain times, to be looking to continue to provide a stable framework for employment is even better: the company deserves to grow and succeed with such a positive attitude.”

Mr Bernard Galloway, Chairman and CEO thanked the Mayor for his kind and generous endorsements of Buxton and added, “Strong inter-personal relationships form the very backbone of our business and are vital to its success. We take our responsibility as an employer very seriously and the nurturing of local talent makes complete sense.”

The mayoral visit coincided with FSC Friday, the nationwide initiative to raise awareness of the work of FSC-UK and comprised an extensive tour of the factory followed by a buffet lunch.
